Wombats - 4-5 Years
A day in the life
In the Preschool room we continue to provide learning experiences through teachings, play and social interactions. These experiences are often child led learning which means that they are created for and based around the children’s individual interests.
Our ongoing teaching focuses on developing the children’s social skills that promote positive interactions as well as individual skills such as self-help and decision making. As educators we create exciting learning environments with stimulating activities and routines that invite the children to play and get involved.
We believe that learning through play creates ongoing opportunities for the children to further develop their cognitive, mathematics, and literacy.
Physical learning and development is promoted through our daily outdoor programs and through daily music & movement.
Our younger preschoolers share a large outdoor play space with older preschoolers, with individual play times set to allow the children ample time to explore their surroundings in an age appropriate environment. Our Possums will also at times go out into our Wombats playground, which is our other expansive outdoor play space, with a wide range of equipment and learning experiences.
Our Goals
Our goal as educators is to engage with the children and actively promote children’s learning through play and activities that provide an endless amount of opportunities for the children to explore, discover, create and imagine. We create learning environments which encourage and extend the children’s strengths, skills and abilities. We encourage the children to participate together and in groups while positively interacting with each individual child in their learning and support the development of their sense of overall wellbeing.
Communication
We like to stay engaged with our parents on the children’s ongoing learning and development through our Owna App. This allows us to provide you with daily journals, news feeds and observations of your child’s everyday progression wherever you might be. We send updates to our Owna App throughout the day, so that you can get all the information needed to give you peace of mind that your child is thriving while at the centre.
