At Little Foundations Early Learning Centre, our Babies Room aged 0 to 1.5 years is designed to provide a warm, safe, and nurturing environment where our youngest learners can thrive. We understand that the first 18 months of a child’s life are critical in laying the groundwork for lifelong learning, emotional well-being, and healthy development.

This stage of early childhood is marked by rapid growth and constant discovery. Our dedicated educators are passionate about creating strong, trusting bonds with each child, ensuring that every baby feels secure, loved, and supported in their journey of exploration.

Goal of the Babies Room

The focus of our Nursery Room is on providing responsive care and a calm, predictable routine that mirrors each child’s individual needs and rhythms. We believe in respectful caregiving and child-led learning, allowing babies to explore at their own pace while feeling emotionally secure.

Our nurturing environment supports the development of attachment, trust, communication, physical strength, and sensory awareness. Educators engage in intentional, gentle interactions that promote a sense of belonging and foster curiosity about the world.

Activities and Experiences

Our educators plan and implement meaningful experiences based on each child’s individual interests, developmental stage, and family input. Activities are calm, open-ended, and focused on exploration and relationship-building. These include:

A Continuity of Care

We recognise the importance of routines and consistency in the lives of infants. Educators work closely with families to understand and follow each baby’s feeding, sleep, and nappy-changing routines, ensuring a smooth transition from home to care. Families receive regular updates and photos through our Owna platform, giving peace of mind and real-time insights into their child’s day.

A Foundation for Life

The Babies Room is more than just a place of care—it is where relationships begin, learning is sparked, and trust is built. Our qualified educators create a calm and emotionally rich environment, filled with gentle encouragement and thoughtful interactions, forming the very first building blocks of a child’s development.

We are honoured to be part of these precious early moments and committed to helping each child feel safe, secure, and truly cherished every step of the way.Change Koalas and nursery to “Babies” throughout the page.

Communication

Each day we will communicate with parents about what has happened in our room. We will share the highlights of each day by making notes on our weekly program. Writing these daily comments on the program allows Educators to communicate with families about some of the meaningful activities and interactions of the day. These comments will be aligned with the government’s Early Years Learning Framework. Photos of the children illustrating their interaction with the curriculum will also be shared. This will all be shared along with the general important information about the children’s food intake, toileting and rest time.

Each week we will reflect in general about our journey together and this weekly reflection will be posted for parents to view. Regular centre newsletters will also be produced and shared with our Koala parents.

When your child first starts in the room the staff will ask you for a routine that your child follows for the day – when they feed, sleep etc, what comforters they need. This is so that our educators can best Endeavor to follow the routine that you use at home and make the transition as seamless as possible.

Nursery educators know how nerve wracking it can be for families to introduce their children to childcares, so they are dedicated to making this transition easier! Our parents are encouraged to check out the Owna app to follow along and receive pictures and videos of learning experiences from their child’s day.
