The Toddlers Room at our centre is designed to support children aged 2 to 3 years, a stage of tremendous growth, discovery, and blossoming independence. This room offers a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where toddlers are supported through some of their most important developmental milestones. Our educators are passionate about guiding children during this exciting stage, laying the foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing.

Goal of the Toddlers Room (2–3 Years)

Our goal is to create a nurturing and engaging environment where toddlers can develop independence, communication, and social skills. Through play-based learning, we support their curiosity, physical development, and emotional growth. We also work closely with families to support important milestones like toilet training and help children build self-help skills. Our program is designed to ensure toddlers feel confident and secure, supporting a smooth transition to the preschool room when they are ready.

Key Developmental Milestones Supported

Language and Communication: At this stage, children’s vocabulary grows rapidly. We foster communication through rich language experiences, singing, storytelling, and conversations, helping toddlers express themselves and build confidence.
Social and Emotional Skills: Toddlers begin to develop strong attachments, express a wide range of emotions, and engage in parallel and cooperative play. Our educators support children in recognising their feelings, sharing, and building positive peer relationships.
Physical Development: This age is marked by increased mobility and coordination. Our learning environments include opportunities for running, jumping, climbing, and fine motor activities such as threading, building, and drawing to strengthen motor skills.
Cognitive Growth: Through exploration, play-based learning, and hands-on experiences, toddlers begin to develop memory, problem-solving, and an understanding of basic concepts like colours, shapes, and numbers.
Independence and Self-help Skills: Our program supports toddlers as they learn to feed themselves, tidy up, dress independently, and begin toilet training with gentle encouragement and consistency.

Activities in the Toddlers Room

Creative Arts and Sensory Play: Children are encouraged to explore different textures and materials through painting, playdough, sand, and water play, which supports sensory and fine motor development.
Music and Movement: Daily music, singing, and dancing enhance language development, rhythm, and coordination while allowing children to express joy and creativity.
Outdoor Play and Gross Motor Challenges: Our spacious outdoor area is a vital extension of our indoor environment, offering age-appropriate climbing equipment, bikes, and nature-based play.
Group Times and Storytelling: These are used to build a sense of belonging, encourage turn-taking, and support early literacy and listening skills.
Dramatic Play and Role Play: Toddlers enjoy imitating adults, and our home corner and dress-up areas promote imaginative play and social learning.
Mindfulness and Rest: We balance busy moments with quiet times, including mindfulness-based activities and rest periods, supporting children’s emotional wellbeing.

Individualised Learning and Family Partnerships

Each child’s interests, abilities, and learning style are unique. Our educators observe and document these daily to create a tailored curriculum that supports individual development. We work closely with families, sharing regular updates and welcoming their input to ensure consistency between home and care.

Communication

We like to stay engaged with our parents on the children’s ongoing learning and development through our Owna App. This allows us to provide you with daily journals, news feeds and observations of your child’s everyday progression wherever you might be. We send updates to our Owna App throughout the day, so that you can get all the information needed to give you peace of mind that your child is thriving while at the centre.

Are nappies provided?

Yes, nappies are provided but if your child is toilet
training then families are required to provide the pull
ups.

Are sheets included?

No, you will need to bring with you to the centre, a fitted
sheet and cot size blanket with the child's name clearly
labeled.

Do they need to bring their hats?

yes, they must bring their own hats. At the end of the day, it should be taken back home for washing.
